Bed & Biscuit Pet Resort
Boarding your dog is an act of trust. Whether it is the first visit or one of many, owners want to know their pet will be cared for by people who understand that every dog is different. That understanding has shaped Bed & Biscuit Pet Resort since Wendy Hess opened the business in 2007.
Wendy’s love for dogs began long before she became a business owner. After years of having dogs of her own, she found it difficult to find a place where she truly felt comfortable leaving them when she traveled. That experience stayed with her. As a single mother, she decided to build the kind of boarding kennel she had always wished existed. With the help of an SBA loan and a general contractor who believed in her vision, she built the business from the ground up. In the years since, her husband, Dan Hess, has been a strong source of support as she has continued to run the business.
Today, Wendy has chosen to keep the business intentionally small because she believes it allows every dog to receive more personal attention. She and her dedicated team spend much of each day maintaining a clean, healthy environment while also making sure dogs have time to exercise, play, and settle into a routine that helps them feel secure. They take the time to learn each dog’s personality, whether that means joining a playgroup, chasing a frisbee, or simply sitting quietly beside a dog that needs extra reassurance.
For first-time visitors, familiar items from home and a predictable daily schedule can make the transition easier. Wendy sometimes encourages owners to bring a shirt recently worn by the dog’s favorite person so the familiar scent can provide comfort. As dogs become accustomed to feeding times, outdoor time, and the people caring for them, they begin to know what to expect.
That thoughtful approach carries through every part of the experience. The spacious outdoor play yards give dogs room to move, while the small staff allows lasting relationships to develop. Some dogs even form clear favorites among the team. For instance, one former team member, who had gone on to become a dental assistant, returned on her day off simply to visit a dog with whom she had developed a special bond.
Wendy takes pride in supporting younger team members as they gain experience and begin building their working lives, as well as in the relationships her team builds with the dogs. For owners, that means leaving with greater peace of mind, knowing their dog is being cared for by people who value safety, cleanliness, patience, and genuine personal attention. It is a simple philosophy, but one that has guided Bed & Biscuit Pet Resort from the beginning.

I recently took my puppy to Bed & Biscuit Pet Resort and couldn’t be happier! The staff was welcoming and clearly loves animals. Bennie came out looking amazing, with a beautifully groomed coat, and he seemed so happy. 😁 They handled him with care and made the grooming process positive for his first time! I highly recommend Bed & Biscuit Pet Resort for anyone seeking a trustworthy and loving grooming service. I’ll definitely be back! 5 Star!!
