Bruce Septic and Repair
Long before Tracey Gonzalez owned Bruce Septic and Repair, the Bruce family had already become part of her life. When Tracey bought her first home as a young mother, she happened to move next door to the family behind the business. They helped her learn some of the realities of homeownership, including wells, septic systems, and caring for a larger property. Over time, their kindness grew into a lasting friendship.
Tracey eventually began returning some of that help. With a background in accounting and business operations, she assisted the family as paperwork, technology, and other parts of running the business changed. Delbert Bruce was the original owner, and his son Johnny later purchased the business from him. After learning that the family had sold another part of the operation, Tracey told Johnny that if he ever decided to sell the septic business, she would be interested. When he came back to her months later and asked if she had been serious, her answer was yes.
Bruce Septic and Repair has been in business for more than 75 years, giving Tracey a long-established name and reputation to carry forward. Jimmy Bruce, who was part of the family operation before Tracey took over, remains involved and spends time on the truck.
Owning the business does not mean staying behind a desk. When Tracey realized there were times customers needed help and a driver was not available, she went to CDL school and earned her license so she could get behind the wheel herself. While handling the business side, she also spends time on the truck, visiting properties and meeting customers. Her husband, Chris, also works on the truck periodically, adding another family connection to the operation.
That hands-on involvement carries into the way Bruce Septic and Repair approaches its work. The business handles septic pumping and tank cleaning along with repairs, pump replacements, filter cleaning, rodding, plumbing, and water removal. Tracey also places a strong emphasis on helping homeowners understand their septic systems, including why routine care matters and how everyday habits can affect how well a system functions.
When something is wrong, the approach is to figure out what is actually causing the problem before assuming a major repair is needed. That means taking time to answer questions, explain options clearly, and work carefully around a customer’s property.
For Tracey, keeping the Bruce name means carrying forward the reputation that came with it. She remembers the honesty, helpfulness, and dependable work associated with the family long before she became the owner. Continuing that legacy means doing the work thoroughly, treating people fairly, and giving customers straightforward service they can rely on.

If anyone is having septic issues or needs a pump, I highly recommend Bruce Septic and Repair out of Lowell. They were caring and professional from start to finish. They truly treated us like family and took the time to figure out what was actually causing the problem instead of jumping straight to the most expensive option. We had been told we might need a whole new field, but they properly diagnosed the issue and what could have been a $16,000 repair turned into $1,600. We are so incredibly grateful for their honesty and integrity. Highly recommend. ❤️
