A visit to the dentist can be much easier when the people caring for you take the time to explain what is happening and help put you at ease. That is a big part of the experience at District Dental of Jasper, where Dr. Kevin Cash places a strong emphasis on patient education, clear communication, and personal attention.

Dr. Cash’s interest in dentistry began when he was around 12 years old and needed surgery for an impacted canine. The experience fascinated him, particularly what dentistry could accomplish and how the body responded. That curiosity stayed with him as he continued through school and began working toward a career in dentistry.

A Crown Point native, Dr. Cash attended Culver Military Academy for high school before completing his undergraduate studies at Wabash College. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee.  His interests extended beyond science as well, including linguistics, Spanish culture, and poetry, reflecting a curiosity that reaches beyond the technical side of his profession.

At District Dental of Jasper, new patients get a good sense of Dr. Cash’s approach right away. He makes time to sit down with them, learn about their concerns, and walk through what he sees. He explains X-rays, dental anatomy, and the reasons behind different recommendations so people can better understand their own health and why something may matter. That extra time can be particularly reassuring for someone who is nervous about dental care.

The practice is also very much a family effort. Dr. Cash’s wife, Dessaray, helps manage the administrative side of the office and supports the day-to-day work behind the scenes. Her brother, Mark, is involved in helping manage the practice as well. Together, they have helped create a relaxed, friendly, and personal atmosphere where getting to know patients matters just as much as the care itself.

Dr. Cash also sees patients at District Dental Spa in Indianapolis, where the same family-oriented approach carries through.

Dr. Cash’s military service helped reinforce the diligence and sense of service he brings to dentistry. He also teaches at the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, where he teaches emergency care and works with students as they provide patient care on the clinic floor. His interest in teaching carries into the way he works with patients as well. He enjoys helping people understand things they may never have had explained to them before and sees that education as an important part of building trust, especially with patients who may already be anxious about being in the dental chair.

What stands out is the combination of thorough care and a genuine family atmosphere. People are given time, questions are welcomed, and personal connections matter. Dr. Cash and Dessaray want patients to feel known, respected, and cared for as individuals rather than simply moved through an appointment. For someone who may not look forward to going to the dentist, that kind of personal attention can make the experience easier and leave them feeling more comfortable and confident about their care.

Dr. Cash and his staff have been amazing. They have brought confidence back to my smile. The atmosphere in the office is so relaxed and calm. They are all so personable and caring. I’ve had to have a lot of work done over the past year with some to come in the future and they have never hesitated to work with me financially. I would highly recommend his office. Thank you for coming to Rensselaer Dr. Cash!!
