Few businesses can trace their roots through five generations of the same family, but that history remains a living part of Henn & Sons Construction Services, Inc. John’s family came to America in the late 1800s from what was then Germany and is now part of France. Carpentry was already part of the family’s background in Europe, and those skills continued to shape their work after settling in Indiana. By 1908, Henry Henn was working as a carpenter in the community, and in 1937 he and his sons formally established the business, beginning a family tradition that would continue through each generation. Today, John Henn carries that legacy forward as the fifth generation to join the family business.

For John, that history is not something found only in old photographs or family stories. He grew up around the work, spending school breaks and summers helping where he could before earning a degree in business management and joining full time after graduation. He now works alongside his father, Robert, as the business continues its transition into the next generation. While construction methods and technology have changed over the years, many of the values that helped sustain the business have remained steady.

One of those values is the importance of building lasting relationships. Rather than focusing on a single type of project, Henn & Sons has built its reputation by serving both homeowners and businesses across a wide range of construction needs. The goal is not simply to complete one job, but to be the people customers call when the next need arises. John recalls meeting customers who remember his grandfather working on their homes years earlier, and many families have continued turning to Henn & Sons across multiple generations. The people remain the most rewarding part of the work for John. He enjoys getting to know customers, understanding their needs, and being part of projects that matter to them.
