Todd and Joy Zandstra have built their businesses around helping homeowners in Northwest Indiana get more from their properties. What started with Redwood Landscape eventually led to a new opportunity when they began looking for ways to keep their team working during the slower months of the year. That search led them into holiday lighting, and over time it grew into Lumin8 Outdoor Lighting.

Before Lumin8 Outdoor, Todd built Redwood Landscape from the ground up after starting with lawn mowing work as a teenager. As Redwood Landscape grew, Todd and Joy began looking for practical ways to keep their team working year-round. Holiday lighting gave them that opportunity, and what began as a seasonal service quickly developed into a business of its own. Later, they expanded again with Wet N’ Wild Irrigation, creating three businesses that complement one another while serving different needs for property owners.

The lighting side took off faster than they expected. As displays began appearing in neighborhoods, one project often led to another as people saw new possibilities for their own houses. What started with seasonal lighting naturally expanded into permanent lighting solutions that give customers more ways to personalize their property throughout the year.

For Joy, one of the most rewarding parts of the work is seeing how lighting changes the feeling of a home. It is not simply about adding lights to a house. As a business owner and parent, she appreciates the role a home plays in everyday life and understands why people value places that bring family and friends together.
