For ServiScape, the story begins in 1983, when Pete and Stephanie Sinnott started the business around the careful work of golf course maintenance. That kind of care requires consistency, steady upkeep, and a trained eye for how outdoor spaces function over time. Clay Putnam came from that same world, studying agronomy at Ohio State and working as a golf course superintendent before joining ServiScape in the 1990s. He later left ServiScape for a larger corporate setting, but after realizing corporate life was not for him, he returned as a partner and eventually became the sole owner.

While the business first focused on golf course care, where long-term relationships and dependable maintenance matter deeply, the landscape side grew naturally over time. People connected to the golf courses began asking for help with their own lawns and landscapes, and those requests eventually became a dedicated landscape division.

In 2016, Clay added another part of the business through Christmas Decor by ServiScape, after coming across Christmas Decor, a Dallas-based franchise, at a landscape show. He had already been thinking about the holiday lighting and decorating side of the business, and because ServiScape does not do snow plowing, he saw it as a way to generate revenue through the winter months and keep staff working longer through the season. The service includes design, installation, maintenance, takedown, and storage for holiday lighting and decorating. His wife, Tina Putnam, became closely involved with that side of the business, bringing the creative eye Clay says he does not naturally have. That part of the business has continued to grow as well, with a second Christmas Decor franchise location beginning in Punta Gorda, Florida.

ServiScape’s broader services include landscape design and installation, garden care, hardscape installation, patios, walkways, softscape services, irrigation, lawn care, Christmas Decor, and golf course services. As that growth has continued, ServiScape has also reached the point of expanding its own shop space.

Clay speaks about ownership with a clear sense of responsibility. He enjoys the challenges that come with running the business, but what seems to matter most are the people connected to it. He takes pride in seeing employees grow into lasting careers, and he values the trust that comes from serving customers well over time.

For customers, ServiScape offers the feeling of working with people who are organized, responsive, and serious about the details. From the first conversation through the finished project, people can expect clear communication, knowledgeable guidance, and crews who treat the property with care. Customers often notice the difference in the finished space, whether that means improved lawn areas, refreshed landscaping, clean stone work, a well-maintained property, or holiday displays that are handled with care.

There is a steadiness to the way ServiScape operates. The focus is not on making the process complicated. It is on listening, following through, solving problems where possible, and leaving the property in better shape than when the work began. That kind of dependability is what gives people confidence, whether ServiScape is caring for a golf course, building out a landscape, or helping a property feel finished, cared for, and ready to be enjoyed.

We are new to ServiScape who we hired this season to re-do our driveway, refresh our landscaping and handle our lawn maintenance. We have been blown away by their customer service, professionalism and attention to detail. Our lawn looks amazing. Long-time problems have (finally) been addressed. Our calls and emails are answered promptly (a miracle compared to our last landscaping partner!)

Every member of the team is polite, professional and knowledgeable. Big shout-out to Shelley who is on top of all of the details!
