The Bin Grin
Sometimes a business idea starts with something surprisingly simple. For Eric Alday, it began with a neighborhood kid who offered to clean his trash bins for extra money. Eric kept paying him to do it and was impressed enough by the initiative that he joked the kid would probably be a billionaire someday.
Then one summer, the kid stopped coming around.
While traveling for work on a flight to Montana, Eric started looking online for someone else who could clean the bins and realized how difficult it was to find the service nearby. His search eventually turned into research about the business itself. By the time the plane landed, he was ready to call his wife and tell her he wanted to become a professional trash bin cleaner. That idea eventually became The Bin Grin.
What Eric built goes well beyond spraying out a trash can with a garden hose. Trash bins naturally collect residue that can lead to harmful bacteria growth, stubborn odors, and attract pests. The Bin Grin uses high-temperature, high-pressure water to clean the inside of each bin, along with a small amount of biodegradable degreaser. Eric brings the water with him, collects the wastewater, and disposes of it properly. The outside of the bin is cleaned as well, including cobwebs and other exterior debris.
Just as important as the cleaning itself is keeping the experience straightforward. Service is scheduled around the customer’s regular trash or recycling pickup day, communication is clear, and the process requires very little from the homeowner once the bins are left at the curb. The result is noticeably cleaner, fresher-smelling bins without adding another household chore to the list.
The Bin Grin also offers concrete cleaning for driveways, sidewalks, and walkways, giving homeowners another way to freshen up outdoor areas around the home.
What Eric enjoys most is the people he meets and the satisfaction they get from seeing the finished result. He wants to earn and keep their trust and be a good steward of the community around him. He also looks for ways to help local organizations and individuals when he can.
That mindset carries through the business: keep things simple, communicate clearly, do the work thoroughly, and treat people well.

So glad I found this service! What a great concept. My trash cans never seem to get as clean as I’d like them even with my own power washer. Eric cleaned the trash bins so well, I found myself not wanting to put trash in them over the weekend. He was communicative, on time, and was able to do the job in under 30 minutes. This is one of those household chores that seems to get pushed to the bottom of the list, and I am glad I now have this monthly service!
