The Willow Shop

The Willow Shop interior

Stepping inside Willow feels less like entering a typical plant shop and more like finding a place where you can slow down, look around, and discover something that catches your eye. The shop brings together houseplants, handmade goods, and the work of local women artisans in a setting that feels relaxed and inviting.

Alecks Voss is the hands and heart behind Willow and Bella Node, the plant business located within the shop. Bella Node first took shape in her spare bedroom in 2020 before growing into something larger than she initially imagined. The storefront reflects the values that have guided her along the way, including creativity, community, and personal connection.

Plants remain at the heart of the shop, with selections ranging from familiar favorites to more unusual varieties. Guidance is an important part of the experience as well. Alecks helps customers understand what different plants need and offers advice that makes plant care feel approachable, whether someone has years of experience or is choosing a first houseplant.

Willow also offers pottery, macrame, candles, body care, jewelry, and other one-of-a-kind gifts created by local artisans. Workshops, permanent jewelry, a charm bar, and other creative experiences give visitors additional ways to spend time in the space and try something new.

What many customers remember most is the personal attention they receive. Conversations unfold naturally, questions are welcomed, and visitors are given room to browse without feeling rushed. Alecks has built Willow around kindness, creativity, and a genuine interest in those who come through the door. A quick stop can easily become an unhurried visit, with plenty to explore among the plants and handmade goods.

I had been peeking through the windows of Willow Plant Store for quite a while since I regularly attend yoga classes next door, so I was thrilled when my boss surprised me with a gift card a couple of weeks ago. I used it to pick out a couple of plants for my office, and they’ve been perfect!

Yesterday, my daughter and I finally had time to really browse the shop, and we were so impressed. Everything in the store is high quality, unique, and thoughtfully curated. The plants are absolutely beautiful, with such a great variety—from cacti, succulents, air plants, and pothos to larger hanging lipstick plants that were stunning.

Beyond plants, they also carry incense, cleaning sprays, jewelry, artwork, woven plant holders, and so many other lovely items. It’s truly more than just a plant shop—it’s a charming artisan store with something for everyone.

I highly recommend checking out this hidden gem if you’re in Chesterton, visiting Northwest Indiana, exploring the Dunes parks, or making a stop on your way to or from Chicago. You won’t regret it!
