What Katrina Jackson has built at Up4Movement feels personal from the start. It is a private fitness center shaped around encouragement, accountability, and the belief that taking care of your health should fit into real life. Rather than creating an environment that feels intimidating or overwhelming, Katrina has focused on building a place where people can feel comfortable walking through the door, whether they are experienced exercisers or simply trying to become more active.

Katrina’s path to owning a fitness business was anything but direct. Born and raised in Denmark, she built a career in business and human resources before moving to the United States. She initially settled in Chicago, where she continued working in corporate roles while sports and fitness remained a constant part of her life. Over time, she saw how easily health and well-being can fall behind other priorities in demanding work environments. Eventually, she decided to combine her business background with her passion for fitness and create something of her own.

What began as a small one-on-one personal training operation has grown steadily over time. Katrina expanded thoughtfully, adding new spaces, new services, and additional trainers as opportunities presented themselves. Along the way, she stayed focused on creating programs she genuinely enjoyed herself and believed would bring value to the people she served. Today, Up4Movement offers personal training alongside small group strength training, cycling, yoga, and Pilates. In addition to the Michigan City location, Up4Movement also has a second location in Chesterton, while maintaining the personal atmosphere that defined it from the beginning.

That atmosphere is what many people remember most. The experience feels welcoming and approachable in a way that sets it apart from a traditional gym. People who once struggled to stay consistent with fitness find themselves looking forward to classes and making movement a regular part of their lives. Katrina and her team encourage people to challenge themselves, but they also pay attention to individual goals, abilities, and progress along the way. The result is a place where fitness feels less like an obligation and more like something people genuinely enjoy. That sense of encouragement and consistency is part of what keeps people coming back.
